Analiza medijske pristranosti kod izvješćivanja o arapsko-izraelskom sukobu na primjeru izvješćivanja američkih medija

Jedan od najvećih propusta američkih medija, kod izvješćivanja o arapsko-izraelskom sukobu, jest ignoriranje antiizraelskih i antisemitskih huškanja u školama, mošejama (džamijama), televiziji, radiju, novinama, ljetnim kampovima za djecu javnim okupljanjima i sl. na području Palestinske Samouprave. Upravo je palestinsko odbijanje židovske države kao nelegitimne i zle (a koje je i službeno sankcionirano (od strane službene Palestinske Samouprave i institucija tijela pod njenom upravom), više nego bilo što drugo prepreka na putu pomirenja i mirovnih pregovora. 

Program televizije Palestinske Samouprave

Svakog petka, televizija Palestinske Samouprave prenosi propovijed petkom - svaki put iz druge mošeje (džamije). U petak, 13. svibnja 2005., televizija Palestinske Samouprave (PA TV) je prenosila propovijed šeika Ibrahima Mudeirisa (Mudayrisa), plaćenog uposlenika Palestinske Samouprave, koji je Izael nazvao rakom, a židovski narod virusom, koji podsjeća na virus AIDS-a i pozvao muslimane da dokrajče svakog Židova. MEMRI (www.memri.com) je preveo tu propovijed i na svom siteu objavio snimku iste.

Vijest o tome prenio je samo kanadski National Post, koji je prenio dijelove te propovijedi, dok su je mainstream mediji ignorirali. (Update: Reuters je, s 5 dana zakašnjenja, konačno prenio vijest o toj propovijedi, ali zato da nas informira da je Palestinska Samouprava konačno poduzela akciju u smjeru borbe protiv govora mržnje - 5 je dana ova novinska agencija, koja prenese stotine izviješća na dan, ignorirala propovijed na PA TV, sve dok palestinski ministar informiranja, Nabil Shaath, nije odlučio djelovati kao damage control, informirajući Reuters da je od Waqfa zatražio da istraži Mudeirisa i spriječi ga u daljnjim propovijedima - tek je, u tom kontekstu, somenuta i originalna vijest o ovoj propovijedi.

WAFA

WAFA, službena novinska agencija Palestinske Samouprave, često huška protiv Izraela, najčešće s bizarnim optužbama poput one o tome kako Izrael ugrožava zdravlje Palestinaca, ili s lažnim novinskim izviješćima, kojima je cilj označiti Izrael kao brutalnog agresora nad palestinskim civilima.

Ne samo da mediji ostaju nijemi na ovo WAFA-ino huškanje, već se WAFA često, od tih istih medija, koristi kao legitimni izvor vijesti.

Zašto mediji ne izvještavaju o ovim zastrašujućim primjerima službeno (od strane Palestinske Samouprave) podupiranog govora mržnje? Zašto novinari radije izbjegavaju raspravu o palestinskoj retorici mržnje, ili nameću lažno moralno izjednačavanje, ako takve primjere ikada spomenu?

Prema ombudsmanu New York Timesa, Danielu Okrentu:

The paper’s seeming reluctance, for instance, to report evidence of incitement to racial or religious hatred derives in part, I believe, from a subconscious effort to stick to the noninflammatory middle and to keep things civil, even when civility leaked out of the conflict long ago.

Ali, u CAMERINOM razgovoru s gospodinom Okrentom zaključeno je da je upravo palestinska sredina - ona službena i mainstream - izvor antiizraelskih kampanja, dok je, u slučaju Izraela, ta izraelska sredina ona, koja odbija govor mržnje, koji primjenjuju izraelski rubni elementi.

Mediji imaju svoju ulogu u izvješćivanju o čimbenicima, koji ugrožavaju mir i sigurnost na Bliskom istoku i sve dok ignoriraju onaj najvažniji, padaju iz svoje novinarske misije.
